Edito de la Revue VERRE - Juin 2005. Vol 11, n°3

Edito [Version française ]

Bulk metallic glass has never been the subject of an article in Revue Verre. We bring you today a hitherto unpublished and very recent scientific article written by Marc and Jean Blétry on Zirconium based bulk metallic glasses and will appear over four issues. Happy reading.

Jean-Pierre Pagnac
General Manager
of the Institut du Verre

On 25th May 2005, the Institut Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP – The Globe Physical Institute of Paris) hosted a scientific day on the structure and properties of glassy and melted silicates: a day rich in teachings and full of promise for the future of glass structure knowledge.

The Union pour la Science et la Technologie Verrière (USTV – the Union for Science and Glass Technology), whose head office is at the Institut du Verre, is a nonprofit making organisation. Its purpose is to develop and promote knowledge in the fields of glass science, technology and products. It is organising on 20th
October in Paris, a scientific day on the theme of the colour of glass: problems in colour change in glass; colouration using frits; surface colouration with enamel, thin films and nano particles; photochromic glass. The day will be of great scientific and technical interest for researchers and industrialists. The Institut du Verre, the event organiser, will inform you in due course of the practical modalities to attend the conference (Revue Verre, Portal and website). Mark this date down in your diaries.

Finally on 23rd June in Paris will take place a conference organised by the national association for technical research: the ANRT (Association Nationale de la Recherche Technique). The chosen theme is a comparative look at research in the United States and France entitled: “What relationship is there among the
actors in Research and Innovation?” The Corning Sas experience is featured.

As many fascinating subjects, at the heart of concerns today about the evolution of research in our society…
The Institut du Verre has its finger on the pulse to bring you the best information in its revue, its portal and during the meetings it organizes between industrialists and scientists
